Assalamualaikum…

“In 2010 Ministry of Health has revised and produced a new Malaysian Dietary Guidelines (NCCFN 2010) aimed at health care providers to assist them in the task of educating the public on appropriate means of enhancing their health through sound dietary practices. One of the key messages is eat plenty of fruits and vegetables. Plenty is defined both in term of frequency and quantity. In terms of quantity it implies at least two serving of fruits and three serving of vegetables every day. This means that fruit should be eaten during meal time and as well as for snacks…..
“Previous study pointed out that 70.3% men and 75.5% women did not meet dietary guideline for fruits and vegetables intake, thus it was estimated that more than 8.0 millions Malaysians did not meet this guidelines(MOH,2006)”
“Fruits contribute to cardiovascular health through the variety of phytochemicals, particularly antioxidants, and flavanoids, potassium and its fiber content. The WHO (2002) recommends intake of 400g t0 500g of fruits and vegetables daily to reduce risk of coronary heart disease,  stroke and high blood pressure”
“Tropical fruits particularly guava fruits contained lycopene as well as very high active ascorbic acid comparable to kiwi fruits, the black belt temperate fruits ( Aminah Abdullah and  Ani Fadhlina,2009)”
